Q:
What is espresso?
A: Espresso is the result of the brewing method that involves
forcing pressurized water through finely ground coffee to extract the
optimum flavor components and aromatics from the coffee. It is intense
and it is delicious.
Q: I like strong coffee. Which types
of coffee are the strongest?
A: Strength usually refers to the extraction of coffee.
Each of our coffees is brewed to a strength that accentuates the broadest
range of flavor characteristics. Some coffee drinkers prefer dark roasts,
like Italian Roast or coffee with a full-bodied taste, like African
coffees.
Q: Can I reheat my coffee in the microwave
to keep it warm?
A: No. Reheated coffee taste bad. It breaks down the coffee,
resuting in a sour taste. Fresh brewed always taste better.
Q: How much caffeine is really in a cup of
coffee and espresso?
A: In a 12-ounce cup of coffee there are 200 milligrams
of caffeine; in a 2-ounce shot of espresso there are 100 mg of caffeine.
By comparison, there are 50 mg of caffeine in a typical cola drink.
Q: What is the story with 'de-caf' coffee?
A: Decaffeinated coffee has about 97% less caffeine than
regular coffee. A -2 ounce cup of de-caf has between 2-10 milligrams
of caffeine. Three methods are used to decaffeinate coffee: 1) water
process (WP), 2) carbon dioxide process (CDP), 3) methylene chloride
process (MCP). The WP and CDP are considered "natural methods".
The MCP is the most effective method of removing caffeine without altering
the flavor of coffee beans.
